It&#8217;s super important because a well &#8211; designed PCB ensures the elevator works smoothly and safely. Our design team starts by chatting with the elevator engineers. These holes are for inserting the components and for making connections between different layers of the PCB (if it&#8217;s a multi &#8211; layer board). We use high &#8211; precision drilling machines to make sure the holes are in the right place and have the correct size.<\/p>\n<p>The drilling process has to be really accurate because if the holes are off by even a tiny bit, the components won&#8217;t fit properly, and the PCB won&#8217;t work as it should. After drilling, we clean the board to get rid of any debris left from the drilling.<\/p>\n<h3>Plating the Holes<\/h3>\n<p>After drilling, we plate the holes with copper. This is crucial because it makes the electrical connections between the different layers of the PCB. We use a chemical plating process. The board is immersed in a special solution that contains copper ions. Through an electrochemical reaction, copper is deposited on the walls of the holes.<\/p>\n<p>The plating has to be uniform and of the right thickness. If the plating is too thin, the electrical connection might be weak, and if it&#8217;s too thick, it could cause problems with the component insertion.<\/p>\n<h3>Component Assembly<\/h3>\n<p>Now comes the exciting part &#8211; assembling the components on the PCB. We use two main methods: through &#8211; hole assembly and surface &#8211; mount assembly.<\/p>\n<p>In through &#8211; hole assembly, we insert the leads of the components through the holes we drilled earlier and then solder them on the other side of the board. This method is good for larger components that need a strong mechanical connection.<\/p>\n<p>Surface &#8211; mount assembly is used for smaller components. We use a machine called a pick &#8211; and &#8211; place machine, which can precisely pick up components from a feeder and place them on the PCB. Then, we use a soldering process to attach the components to the board.<\/p>\n<p>We have quality checks at every stage of the component assembly. We use automated optical inspection (AOI) machines to check for any soldering defects or misaligned components. If we find any issues, we fix them right away.<\/p>\n<h3>Testing the PCB<\/h3>\n<p>Once the components are assembled, the PCB goes through a series of tests. The first test is the in &#8211; circuit test (ICT). This test checks the electrical connections on the board. It can detect things like short circuits, open circuits, and incorrect component values.<\/p>\n<p>We also do a functional test. This involves simulating the actual operating conditions of the elevator. We check if the PCB can control the elevator doors, monitor the speed, and communicate with other systems as expected.<\/p>\n<p>If a PCB fails any of the tests, we take it apart and figure out what went wrong. We fix the problem and then retest it until it passes.<\/p>\n<h3>Final Inspection and Packaging<\/h3>\n<p>After passing all the tests, the PCB goes through a final inspection. We look for any cosmetic defects, like scratches or dirt on the board.
